Ancient Fire Making

Saturday March 24th 2018 at 2:00pm - 3:00pm
Dublin Street United Church

Make a spark, nurse a coal, fan the flames! Join Guelph Outdoor School for the 4th annual intro session on ancient fire making.  The session features step-by-step demonstration of friction fire techniques: hand-drill and bow drill.  A survey of other options & gear including: char-cloth, flint & still, and local materials found on the landscape.  Lots of opportunity for Q&A, follow-up workshops, and discussion on fire tending as a mentorship & learning tool for adults and community leaders.

We will meet by the back door of Dublin Street United Church at 2pm sharp!

What to Bring: Warm clothes, your bow drill kit if you have one.

Chris Green is director and instructor @ Guelph Outdoor School, where fire by friction is a favourite tool of mentorship, learning, development, and a window into getting kids nature connected.
